Afghan Witness Reports

Using footage shared online, Afghan Witness confirmed at least two deceased individuals.

The explosion occurred on the same road – in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – as the January 11 suicide bombing claimed by ISKP.

In an image and video shared on social media, AW investigators visually confirmed at least 16 victims of the attack.

An emergency hospital in Kabul, run by Emergency NGO, stated that they received 14 victims of the blast, four of which died on arrival.

According to reports, two Russian embassy staff were among at least six people killed in the attack, which was later claimed by ISKP.

Afghan Witness geolocated footage and images from the aftermath of the explosion - which Taliban officials say killed 18 people.

The explosions reportedly targeted Hazara Shias – the second such attack in Mazar-e Sharif in just one week.

The two explosions came one day after multiple attacks on Thursday.

Use of the hashtag surged between March 10-16.
