Myanmar Witness collects, analyses, verifies, and archives evidence related to human rights incidents and violence in the conflict in Myanmar. The project provides reliable information to diverse stakeholders including civil society, media and advocacy organisations and initiatives, as well as to justice and accountability mechanisms holding perpetrators to account.
Myanmar Witness has investigated seven reported Myanmar Air Force airstrikes on sites holding captured military personnel across Rakhine, Shan, and Kayah states between October 2024 and March 2026. Verified footage and satellite imagery show shackled detainees, barred cells, and damage consistent with aerial attacks, with more than 200 people killed or injured across the seven incidents.
Myanmar Witness has created a number of maps in order to help researchers, journalists and CSOs explore evidence related to human rights incidents in Myanmar and see patterns and trends that have emerged since the coup.
