Despite being sanctioned by the US, UK and EU, Russia's A7 network is expanding its reach in Africa, backed by the Kremlin. CIR's latest investigation suggests A7 is entering a new phase, more directly integrated into the Kremlin's strategic and military operations in Africa, and no longer operating purely as a commercial sanctions evasions network.

Using flight tracking data, call signs and satellite imagery, Myanmar Witness has gathered evidence indicating that Czech company Let Aircraft Industries, part of Omnipol, may have supplied the Myanmar Air Force with three Let L410 UVP-E20 aircraft.

A Myanmar Air Force aircraft crashed in Sa Par Sayt village in Sagaing’s Pale Township on 10 June 2025. Resistance groups claimed they shot it down, while SAC sources stated the crash was caused by an engine failure. Myanmar Witness examined the footage and claims surrounding the incident.

In early November, Taliban senior figures gathered to unveil the burial place of the group’s founder and first emir, Mullah Muhammad Omar. Until now, his burial place remained undisclosed for security reasons. Using open-source techniques, AW geolocated the grave’s exact location.
